«The Temptin' Temptations» is the fourth studio album by the group, released in November 1965. It was the first Temptations album to reach number 1 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart, and also peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200.

The album includes the hit single «My Girl», written and produced by Smokey Robinson and Ronald White, which became the group's first number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Other notable songs are «Since I Lost My Baby» and «It's Growing», both also produced by Robinson.

The album's production was handled by several Motown songwriting and production teams, including Norman Whitfield, who was beginning to make his mark on the group's sound. The record showcases the group's transition towards a more polished soul sound, with characteristic string and horn arrangements of the era.
