This album is a unique collaboration between singer Tony Bennett and jazz pianist Bill Evans. It was recorded at Fantasy Records studios in Berkeley, California, in June 1975, with Bennett and Evans as the sole performers, without any additional accompaniment.
The production was handled by Helen Keane, Evans' manager and regular producer. The repertoire includes jazz standards and Great American Songbook classics such as 'But Beautiful' and 'Some Other Time', highlighting the intimate chemistry between Bennett's voice and Evans' piano.
The album was well received by critics and is considered a milestone in both artists' careers. In 1997, a remastered version with bonus tracks was released, and in 2013, a deluxe edition with alternate takes and previously unreleased material was published.
