The Oakland Zone is the fourteenth studio album by Tower of Power, released in 2003 under Or Music. The title pays homage to the band's hometown of Oakland, California, and its musical legacy.
The album was again produced by Emilio Castillo and Stephen 'Doc' Kupka, with the band as co-producers. It includes collaborations with guest musicians such as trumpeter Tom Politzer and saxophonist Norbert Stachel.
The Oakland Zone reached number 14 on the Billboard Top Jazz Albums chart. Notable songs include 'Soul Side of Town' and 'Take Me Out to the Ballgame', the latter a funk cover of the American classic.
