Singer of Sad Songs is the eighth studio album by Waylon Jennings, released in 1970 by RCA Victor. Produced again by Don Law, it was recorded at RCA Studios in Nashville between 1969 and 1970. The album marks a continuation of Jennings' traditional country style, though with forays into the harder sound that would later characterize outlaw country.

The album includes the title track 'Singer of Sad Songs', written by Alex Zanetis, which became a minor hit on the country charts, peaking at number 33 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Other notable songs include covers of tracks by artists such as Mickey Newbury and Billy Joe Shaver, the latter a future key collaborator of Jennings.

Although Singer of Sad Songs did not achieve major commercial impact, it is remembered for showcasing Jennings' vocal versatility and his ability to interpret melancholic ballads. The album reflects Jennings' transitional period before his definitive break with Nashville conventions.
