Willie Dixon released his first album as a leader in 1960, titled Willie's Blues, on the Prestige Bluesville label. It was recorded in Chicago in 1959 and produced by Chris Albertson.
The album features Dixon on vocals and double bass, accompanied by pianist Memphis Slim and guitarist Washboard Sam. It includes classic blues renditions such as I'm Your Hoochie Coochie Man and Spoonful.
Willie's Blues is regarded as a key document of postwar Chicago blues. Although Dixon was already famous as a songwriter, this album cemented his reputation as a performer and bandleader.
