This debut album by Willie Nelson was released in 1962 on Liberty Records. The title refers to his songwriting career, as many of the songs had already been recorded by other artists, such as 'Crazy' (Patsy Cline) and 'Hello Walls' (Faron Young).
Recorded at Liberty Studios in Hollywood, the album was produced by Joe Allison. Although it was not an immediate commercial success, it established Nelson as a talented singer and songwriter within the Nashville country scene.
The album blends traditional country ballads with a honky-tonk style, showcasing Nelson's nasal voice and unique phrasing. It includes early versions of his own compositions that would later become genre classics.
