'Both Sides Now' was released in 1970 by Willie Nelson, again produced by Chet Atkins. The album was recorded at RCA Studios in Nashville and shows Nelson performing a repertoire of popular songs and standards, including the famous Joni Mitchell song that gives the album its title.

The album includes covers of songs like 'Once Alone' and 'I'd Trade All of My Tomorrows', as well as original compositions by Nelson. Despite Atkins' polished production, Nelson was beginning to imprint his personal stamp on each performance.

Commercially, the album did not achieve major chart impact, but it is valued by collectors as an example of Nelson's transitional period, before his consolidation as a central figure of the outlaw country movement.
